Turkey Burgers!

At a mere 149 calories per burger, this recipe is a dieting diamond! It’s another super duper easy recipe from my Complete Book of Main Courses. This is what you will need to make 4 burgers.

  • 400g Lean Turkey Breast Mince
  • Zest & Juice of 1/2 Lime
  • 1 small Red Onion
  • Fresh Herbs (of your choosing)
  • Olive Oil
  • Griddle Pan

In a large bowl: add the zest & juice of half a lime, grate in the red onion & add the chopped herbs. The recipe recommends thyme but I used parsley & coriander as that’s what I had at the time. Have a play around with the flavours and see what you can come up with.

Next, add the turkey mince to the bowl and season well with salt and pepper. Leave the mix in the fridge to allow the flavours to infuse for as long as you’ve got. I would say at least an hour but if you’ve got 3-4 even better.

When you are ready, split the mix into 4 and form into burgers. Brush the top sides with a little olive oil.

Heat a griddle pan on the hob then put on the burgers, oiled side down. Grill for about 10 minutes. Brush the uncooked side with oil and flip over. Grill for another 10 minutes or until cooked through.

Me and the Mr had them in these new 50/50 Pitta Pockets with lettuce, slices of tomato and a pepper & tomato pickle.

You could have them with anything though. With chips, in a bun, with a salad (to keep the recipe gluten free) or even make them into meatballs. The options are limitless, just use your imagination!

I think I’ll be attempting to find some more turkey recipes though. You basically get 100g for 100 calories, that’s the kind of dieting math I like to do! Shame it’s not the same for chocolate… oh well, you can’t win ’em all!

Until next time folks.
